The Battle Cats of Southshire Roller Derby are headed to Feasterville, Pennsylvania June 19-21 where they will be participating in the east coasts largest annual flat track roller derby event outside of WFTDA (Women’s Flat Track Derby Association) playoffs, the East Coast Derby Extravaganza (ECDX).
As a brand new league, Southshire applied to the lottery process along with a number of other leagues around the world. Only twelve non-WFTDA leagues were selected to play on the challenge rink during the event. This past week, the Southshire ladies were given the 2:30pm slot on Sunday against Reading Roller Derby of Reading, Pennsylvania. All of the Battle Cats will be heading down to Feasterville on Friday or Saturday to watch all the WFTDA and MRDA (Men’s Roller Derby Association) flat track roller derby action and meet some of the best flat track skaters in the world. Coach Amy Jo Moore has received her 7th consecutive invitation to announce on the WFTDA.tv broadcast for the sanctioned WFTDA and MRDA games and will be heard on the webcast all weekend.
ECDX is in it’s 9th year at the Sportsplex in Feasterville. This year’s event will see participation from teams and skaters from all around the United States, Canada, and Europe.
Most recently, the Battle Cats played their first public game in Windsor, Connecticut where they lost to Hartford Area Roller Derby’s Beat City Bedrockers 224 to 118 April 18. Their next game will be their first home game at Riley Rink at 7pm July 11.
