Southshire Roller Derby Alert!
Bennington College grads Tina (’13) and Alison (’14) bought 5 tickets to tomorrow’s roller derby doubleheader at Riley Rink in Manchester Gold Town.
“Because,” Tina said, “my friend Retha Charette is on the team — her name is Wandalust.”
“Oh, that’s a great name!” Alison said. I asked why she’s going too. “Because my friends told me about it and it sounded awesome. I had to look it up on Google. … I don’t think I understand it too much but it seems chaotic and I figured, Why not?”
I asked ’em what their derby names would be.
“Coop Deville,” Tina said. Her last name is Cooper.
“Cho Money Cho Problems,” Alison said, playing off her last name while paying homage to the song Mo Money Mo Problems by the Notorious B.I.G.
“So you’re really driving 25 minutes to watch this?” I asked. “Why?”
“Because it’s the best thing to happen since Garlic Fest,” Tina said.
You can buy tickets at Fiddlehead till about 4 tomorrow. 5 bucks gets you 2 matches (men at 5, women at 7) and access to the Riley Rink beer garden. Can’t beat that bargain.
