The Southshire Battle Cats recently celebrated the end of a busy second competition season away against Shoreline Roller Derby’s Belladonnas in Groton, Conn. The Battle Cats started their season early this year, traveling to Albany in January to skate against the Albany All Stars Roller Derby B Team, losing 282-56.
Also this year, Southshire hosted four home games at Riley Rink in Manchester, and faced off against Albany again in May, losing 110-206. Southshire also hosted Central Vermont Roller Derby’s Twin City Riot in a nail-biting bout, losing 108-119 in July, Monadnock Roller Derby’s Mad Knockers in August and Cape Cod Roller Derby’s Salty Dolls in September. In addition to hosting four home bouts, Southshire hosted a scrimmage and a weekend training event in Manchester.
In April, the Battle Cats traveled to compete with Central New York Roller Derby’s Wonder Brawlers and faced Monadnock again, away in July.
Southshire Roller Derby has also put together a successful junior’s roller derby program and team, the Southshire Battle Brats. The Battle Brats traveled to a scrimmage at Pioneer Valley on October 29.
Southshire thanks all fans, officials and sponsors for their involvement this season. For more information about Southshire Roller Derby, sponsorship or junior roller derby, contact email@example.com.
